Shankersingh was more attracted to NCC Rifles and completed ‘C’ certificate course to serve as under officer initially and warrant officer subsequently. In 1963 he enrolled for the graduation course in commerce in H. A. College in Ahmedabad, However, he gave it up in preference to a post-graduation course in economics by attending evening classes in a collage in Patan. Continuing higher studies in Ahmedabad was out of his reach. He was desperately looking for an alternative. In Patan found one. A Warrant Officer’s posting in NCC and a permission to attend evening post-graduate course.
